Bell Air R/C Flyers October 15 th Meeting Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7pm at the Heritage Flight Museum with 30 members and guests present. There are presently 74 paid club members. The minutes of the September meeting were read and approved. The Treasurer reported a healthy bank balance at this time.
Old Business: The president thanked all who participated in the fall work party. All the necessary tasks for winterizing the field were accomplished. The barricades and sign have been taken down and stored, and a new stove pipe for the shack installed.
The Safety Officer, Gerry Becker, reported that a few flyers have been ignoring the no smoking in the pits rule. He asked members to vote on whether the rule should be enforced or not. Members voted unanimously to enforce the no smoking in the pits rule. Smoking will only be permitted outside the fence behind the pit area. He also offered some triangular pencil grips to use on X Acto knives. They provide a comfortable grip and won’t roll off the bench. He also stated that it is a good time to check your planes and flight boxes as well.
New Business: Dates for the 2008 event season were presented; Big Bird will be held on June 7 th and 8 th since it is the first full week end in June. War bird event will be held on August 2 nd__ a one day event. All Bird is set for Saturday, August 30 th. A scale fly in was discussed. It was the accepted opinion of the group that it should be a one day, relaxed type event with judging, if any, by the pilots. No firm date has been set at this time. The WECU facility on Holley Street has been reserved for the December-Christmas meeting, Monday, December 3 rd at 7pm . Kelvin proposed that the club donate $150 to the museum in appreciation for the use of the facility. The measure was voted on and approved. The floor then was opened for nominations for officers for 2008. No new nominations were made for President. Bill Law will run for Vice President, Gail Buck has agreed to continue to serve as treasurer for 2008. Nominations are still open for Safety Officer, Secretary, and Field Marshall. Voting is to take place at the November meeting. Rennie Stefani presented Don Page with his solo certificate. Rennie said that although Don has not missed the runway with a 747 he is 3 for 10 with his model. Way to go Don! Show and tell__ Gerry Becker showed his new Space Walker ARF.
