January 2008 Bell Air R/C Club Minutes
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at the Heritage Flight Museum at 7 PM. President Kelvin Buck welcomed the members and guests to the first meeting of 2008.He reminded the group that 2008 AMA dues must be paid before flying. Club dues are required by February 1 st. Treasurer Gail Buck gave the financial report. Secretary Jim Bradshaw read the minutes of the last meeting. Old Business:
Rennie Stefani discussed the club fuel order. It was agreed to get the fuel order from Hobby Town at $16.53 for 15% Omega and Cool Power and $15.99 for 10%. Members were asked to fill out their orders and pay for them in advance in order to get the discount price. New hats have arrived. It was agreed to sell them for $18 each. There is still a problem with the email to Comcast users. Kelvin is working on the problem. Kelvin has been unable to contact Lee Carter about new wind socks. New Business:
The gate combination will be changed on February 1 st. The Treasurer will give out the new combo when dues have been paid. Budgets for events were discussed at length. It was agreed that the budget for the Big Bird event should be unlimited. Big bird is scheduled for June 7 th and 8 th. Mark Metge, Bill Schnobrich and Tim Robertson have agreed to work on the planning. The Fun Scale event is cancelled unless someone volunteers to head it up. Warbirds Over Whatcom budget has been set at $150. C.D. Gerry Becker also proposed an All Bird Fun Fly- in for August 3rd the day after the Warbirds event on August 2 nd. Pilots would be welcome to fly any type of plane. There will be further discussion on the matter at the next meeting. The annual All Bird fly- in and potluck is proposed for August 30 th. Pylon racing and combat are still undecided depending if enough participants can be obtained. Six people in addition to the pilots are needed for judging, etc, to run the events. It was decided to raffle off a complete model again this year. Tim Robertson volunteered to assemble the model. Performance Hobby will sell the model to the club. Ski to Sea event is not yet on the schedule. Discussion is tabled until the next meeting. Bill Law brought up the subject of liability and insurance in case of accidents. He proposed that the club incorporate which would free individuals of liability in case of law suits. After some discussion it was decided to incorporate. Bill Law is working on the matter. Pilot wings were awarded to the new pilots who didn’t get them at the December meeting. They were Tim Robertson, Pete Sweet, Paul Grondal, and Curtis Crape. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 PM
