| BELL AIR RC FLYERS November 21meeting: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by President Jerry Mc Lean at the Heritage Flight museum. Jerry welcomed the 24 members and 1 guest present. Secretary‘s report: The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved as read. Treasurer’s report: The treasurer reported that the bank balance is about the same as last month. Jerry announced that the new hats and shirts are still available. Hats are$16 and shirts $10, Also the 50-50 raffle will continue until all the tickets have been sold. Field report: Russ Haines reported that the grass has not grown enough to mow. The gang mower addition is still being considered at this time. Safety report: Gerry Becker reported a near miss with a helicopter. The helicopter was apparently out of control and crashed into a bench behind Gerry. The pilot was attempting to adjust the gyro controls with the engine running and the computer radio locked out any control to the helicopter. It took off on its own and crashed into the table. Gerry cautioned pilots to do gyro adjusting with the engine off. Pat Eastman is planning a door, with appropriate signage, to block access to the tower as a safety measure. Main Business: The President declared that nominations for offices were still open and called for nominations from the floor for the following positions; Field Marshall- Gene Tapporo was nominated for Field Marshall. He was elected unopposed for the 2006 period. Safety officer-Scott Wolf was elected to be the new safety officer for 2006. Secretary- Jim Bradshaw will continue as Secretary for 2006. Vice President- Mike Bishop was elected to be the new V.P. for 2006. Treasurer-Gail Buck was re-elected as Treasurer. The membership voted to pay for Gail’s AMA membership again in 2006 since non AMA persons cannot hold office in the club. President- Pat Eastman was elected to serve as president for 2006. New Business: Christmas Party-The party will be held December 5 th at the WECU building on Holly Street. Gail Buck is bringing the refreshments and Earl Cammack will be taking pictures. Mentor Project- Jerry asked members to contact Adrian Velez, Mark Metge or Charles Pilchard to see what items are still needed for Adrian’s project. Club house- Jerry asked for volunteers to oversee the remodel of the club house so that food can be safely served from there at events. One of the main concerns is sanitation, birds(swallows) being a source of contamination as well as flies and other insects. 2006 Membership- Jerry asked members to download the application form from the website or see Gail for one. Warbirds Over Whatcom- Gerry Becker and committee have asked for the first week end of August 2006 for the event. A similar event is being held. at Farragut Idaho the second weekend of August. Gerry has also contacted “Sparky” Jones of MAAC to get our event on the Canadian Event Calendar. He has also contacted Kevin Keglund of the American Warbirds Assn. He suggested that there might be some interest in offering a ride in an AT6 as a raffle prize or increasing the landing fee to cover the expense of a flight. Gerry outlined the flight options offered by the group. The group offered to make a fly-by if they are in our area during the event. Gerry also proposed an increase in the landing fee to cover the expense of a commemorative patch for participants. Miscellaneous Other 2006 events were discussed with final decisions to be made at or after the January 2006 meeting. Charlie Pilchard gave a presentation on battery maintenance, namely how to test and store batteries over the inactive winter period. He also advised that there is a website, www.batteryclinic.com. to contact for more information. It was announced that there is a new hobby shop in town. Hobby Town has opened a franchise store in the Cordata shopping area. Show and Tell- Gerry Becker showed his new inexpensive flight box made from hardware store trays. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 PM
