BELL AIR RC FLYERS NOVEMBER 20 TH 2006 MEETING

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm at the Heritage Flight Museum .

President Pat Eastman welcomed the 20 members and guests present.

The minutes of the October meeting were read and approved.

Officer reports:

President’s report;

Pat reported some minor wind damage from the last storm and that he had spotted a chair floating down the river as well as some downed signs.

Russ Haines is in the VA hospital with pneumonia. He doesn’t want any get- well cards etc. Pat proposed that the club get an aviation book for him. Members could sign it at the December meeting.

The October 28th work party was successful in clearing the drainage ditches and culverts. The sign and safety fences have been taken down and stored for the winter. Thanks go to the many members who helped.

Committee reports:

AMA sanction applications for next year’s 3 main events have been sent in to AMA. The dates for the 2007 events have been set; the “Big Bird” June 2 nd and 3 rd, Fun Scale meet July 7 th, “Warbirds Over Whatcom”, August 4 th and 5 th, “All Bird” and potluck August 25 th, and the Fun Fly August 26 th.

Old Business:

A donation for $150 was presented to the Heritage Flight Museum along with a letter expressing the club’s gratitude for the use of its site for the winter meetings.

New Business:

Nominations were still open for all positions. No nominations for president were received. Nominations for president will continue. Remaining unopposed are Gail Buck-Treasurer, Mike Bishop- Vice President, Jim Bradshaw- Secretary, Gerry Becker- Safety Officer, Gene Tapparro- Field Marshal. Since there were no opposing candidates, the President declared it a white election, and no vote was taken. President nominations will be a point of business for the December meeting/party on December 11 th.

Jerry Mclean proposed a change in meeting times to Saturdays in order to get a bigger turnout. The matter will be discussed further at a future meeting. Also Jerry suggested a possible change in club structure, possibly an executive committee or a shared office for president.

Pat announced that 2007 AMA cards are required in order to fly after January 1 st. Membership dues checks should be made out to Bell Air R C Flyers, not the treasurer. The new dues for 2007 are $ 10 for Bell Air and $70 for field fees making a total of $80 for most members. Please note the gate combination will be changed February 1. st

The December meeting will be 7:00 PM at the WECU facility at 600 East Holly St. this place is located across the street from the main building on East Holly Street . Goodies will be furnished by Ms. Gail Buck; Awards will also be presented for various activities.

The purchase of a new barbeque grill was discussed.

Head instructor Rennie Stefani was recognized for his good work in 2006.

The next Museum open house will be on December 16 th, noon until 4pm

The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm and the raffle was held.
