President’s Report and Old Business: Pat reminded the membership that the dues for 2006 are now payable and the gate combination has been changed. All who wish to fly must have paid their 2006 dues, and have current AMA or MAAC membership. Pat reported that the field had been mowed. Due to the frozen ground it had gone well and was looking great. The president gave a brief presentation on the history of the club. The club was started and chartered by the AMA in 1948. It was given the name “Flying Bees”. Ralph Graham who was instrumental in starting the club is still carried on the membership rolls. Ralph owned and operated his shop the “Hobby Hive” for many years. Later the club’s name was changed to “Bell Air RC Flyers.” Pat reported that he had cleaned and repaired the P.A. system. It was tested at the field and seems to be working satisfactorily. The Memorial Plaque has been put back in place after the addition of names. Pat asked for a motion to approve the expenditure of $90 for the 2006 AMA charter renewal. The motion was made, seconded and approved by the members present. The clubhouse window has been put back in after being reworked with a new frame and hinged to open so that refreshments can be sold through it. Thanks go to Mr. Al Wackerbarth and others who helped. New Business: Pat asked for volunteers to fill out the committees for the up coming events. Gail Buck and Jim Bradshaw added their names to the scale meet roster. Russ Haines, Kelvin Buck, and Gail Buck’s names were added to the “War Birds Over Whatcom” event. Coordinators for the Combat and Fun Fly are still needed. Jim Bradshaw will head up Pylon racing with assistance from Jerry McLean. As usual volunteers are needed to help with parking, transmitter impound and other tasks at the events. Show and Tell: Wally Swartz showed his new Quickie racer and his new synthesized transmitter. The meeting was then adjourned at 7:45 and the raffle was held.
