February 2007 Minutes

Call to order:

The meeting was called to order at 7:15 by Vice President Mike Bishop at the Heritage Flight Museum . There were 23 members and guests present.

Old Business;

TheVice President gave the treasurers report in the absence of that officer. At present there are 29 paid up members for 2007. The gate combination has been changed and the new combination will be given to paid-up members. Members were asked to look out for flyers using old AMA cards at the field.

The minutes of the January meeting were read and approved.

Mike Bishop will pick up and assemble the model for the raffle. Performance Hobby will sell us the plane and radio combination for $250. Rennie Stefani is completing the spring fuel order. Orders need to be paid for in advance.

New Business:

Safety Officer’s Report;

Gerry Becker talked about the new Spectrum 2.4 GHz radios and their use. He has added a new frequency board for their use at the field. Although they do not require frequency control, some control of their use is needed at the field during normal flying and at fly-ins and other events. All transmitters will be impounded at events including the new 2.4 GHz radios. The new board has 6 new blue pins and slots for the AMA cards.

Gerry read an excerpt from another club’s news letter on safety; the author speaks of the importance of wearing shoes while working in the shop as well as safety glasses and adequate ventilation when using CA glue and painting etc. He reported several near misses when X Acto knives had fallen from the work bench, and stuck themselves into the floor in close proximity to his toes.

Gerry proposed that the club purchase banners advertising events. It was voted on and approved. AMA will supply the banners at $54 each

A card expressing sympathy to Jerry Chambers’ family was circulated and signed by the members present. Pat Eastman will have Jerry’s name added to the plaque honoring deceased members.

Jerry Mclean is trying to find members interested in pylon racing and combat for 2007.

It was suggested that the club purchase a new barbeque while prices are low in the off-season. The purchase had been approved at earlier meetings.

New member Walt Mousseau was welcomed into the club.

Jim Bradshaw’s name has been added to the list of flight instructors for those interested in electric powered models by head instructor Rennie Stefani. Jim has agreed to provide technical help for those persons interested in this type of model.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 P.M.
