March 2007 Bell Air RC Flyers Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7pm by President Kelvin Buck. There were 23 members and guests present.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

Old Business:

The Banners for the event advertising have been ordered from AMA and are in the works. The gate combination has been changed and will be furnished to members as their dues have been paid and 2007 AMA cards are current.

Rennie Stefani has received the fuel order and orders can be picked up.

New Business:

The Safety Officer again emphasized the need for careful pre- flight inspection of models before the flying season. Also stressed was the importance of being aware of the spinning props when starting and adjusting engines on the bench or on the ground.

The AMA stance on the new 2.4 GHz radio systems was outlined. This is almost identical to the method we now have in place.

A new type of starting table was discussed. Gerry Becker has the plans for the new type tables and will construct one for the club to try.

A trailer for the Ski to Sea Parade was discussed. Several possible options were presented. Last years trailer is not available and it was put out that a smaller trailer could be modified with the addition of plywood sheets to increase its size for the parade.

It was decided to use tap beverages for the events through the Coca Cola Company. Canisters can be purchased for $17.50 and unopened units can be returned for credit.

Jerry Chambers name has been added to the plaque of deceased members. Pat Eastman suggested that Ted Luke’s named should added to the role of deceased members.

Webmaster Kelvin Buck has obtained a new server for the club web site. The new one more space and club members can establish their own web site if they wish.

The call is out for a chairman for the Big Bird event. A work party will be needed in May to clean up and prepare the field. Date is to be announced later.

Jerry Mclean and other racing enthusiasts are asking for more people to contact Jerry, so that a 2007 racing program can be set up.

Jerry also would like to see more information on emailed meeting announcements, i.e. a copy of the last minutes, event scores and other items of interest.

Show and Tell;

Wally Swartz showed his new D.C.power supply unit made from one from a dead computer’s power unit. The instructions are in a past issue of the AMA magazine.

The meeting was adjourned at 7: 50 pm.
