Bell Air R/C Flyers March 17 th 2008 Meeting

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 at the HeritageFlightMuseum. Kelvin welcomed the members and guests and described the items in the monthly raffle.

The minutes of the February meeting were read and approved.

The treasurer gave her report of the club’s finances. 22 members have paid their dues for 2008.

Old Business:

Kelvin explained the problem with the website. It is back up and running at present. The solution to the mass mailing problem is still being worked on. Suggestions are welcomed.

The AMA club charter pack has been mailed in with the $90 fee for renewal.

The model for the raffle is in at Performance Hobby and ready to be picked up.

Bill Law has submitted the incorporation papers to the state.

New Business:

The mowers are in need of repair or replacement. Ron Sorenson has been the new repairman and doing a great job, but the mowers are aging. There was some discussion at great length on the matter.

Gene Tapparro has joined the mowing team of Rennie Stefani and Don Page. Anyone is welcome to come to help on Wednesday mornings.

Mark Metge has volunteered to be the Big Bird coordinator/ramrod.

New member Kevin Murphy was welcomed. New pilot John Kirby received his solo certificate from instructor Mark Metge.

Safety:

Rennie Stefani discussed the cause of crashes. Among the many causes of crashes are mechanical control failures. He gave an excellent presentation on how proper control system set up relates to safety. He also explained the various relationships between servo arm length and control surface horn length to achieve the best mechanical advantage. His presentation included the use of several mock up items to illustrate this.

Show and Tell:

Gerry Becker showed his rebuilt Tiger Moth and its new color scheme.

The meeting adjourned at 8:30 for the raffle.
