Minutes May, 2005 |
| The first meeting at the club field for 2005 was called to order at 6pm by President Jerry Mc Lean. He suggested that members with items to sell at the swap meet should price the items. Jerry reported that the Can-Am event was well attended by the club members. The Canadians present at the event were mostly Bell Air members. The minutes of the April meeting were read and approved. The Treasurers report was presented by Treasurer Gail Buck. Ski to Sea Parade: Don Wilson reported that the Chamber of Commerce had not yet issued rules for the parade participants, but the committee was proceeding to get things organized anyway. The truck and trailer are ready and the committee needs volunteers for help with walking the parade route and bringing models for display. Don announced that helpers should meet at the Red Apple Market’s parking lot at 8 am on Saturday, May 28, to set up for the parade. Museum Open House: Jerry asked that members sign up for the Museum open house May 21 st. Since he will be away on that day Gail Buck will be in charge of the raffle ticket sales. He also called for member support for the event. Big Bird: CD Mark Metge asked for people to help set up the tents and addition barriers on Friday June 3 rd.A work party will start at 10 am. Members are also needed to run transmitter impound, safety inspection of planes and direct parking etc. at the event. It was suggested that a static display of non big birds be set up along the fence for visitors to see. Also several things were discussed for a lunch time show. Combat demo, parachute candy drop, aerobatic show were suggested. Field Report: Russ Haines reported that he had a lot of help mowing the field in spite of the rain. The Pylons for racing have been left up. Members may lay them down if they interfere with their flying but Jerry asked that they be stood up again afterward to keep the damp ground from damaging them. Rennie Stefani suggested that another opening in the safety fence would be useful. Also, additional posts at the pilot station would help in removing the barricades for mowing. Safety: There was a report of a possible unreported injury. The gate to the field was left open and there was a trail of blood leading out. Field Safety Officer Becker thanked fellow members for their help in keeping alert to possible hazards and violations. Jerry stressed the need to safety check your aircraft, and to have another person help with the inspection. There was one crash due to a bad elevator clevis which could have possibly been detected before flight. Accidents and injuries should be reported to the F.S.O. It was also reported that a Hoby Acres member had come to fly with a radio on 26 MHz. There was some discussion on whether or not this frequency was still valid for use under AMA guidelines. The club was in agreement that no pin, no fly. Presently there are no pins for the old CB frequencies. The club Russ Haines said he will talk to the Hoby Acres members about the matter. Combat: The first event is scheduled for June 2 nd, at 6:00 pm Jerry asked for some help from non-participants to help observe and act as judges.
