MINUTES OF JUNE 18 TH BELL AIR R/C FLYERS MEETING

The meeting was called to order at 6:35 PM at the Bell Air field by the president.

The minutes of the last meeting were not read due to the unfortunate loss of the secretary’s copy of the minutes. Members were asked to refer to the website for details.

The treasurer gave the financial report, stating that the Big Bird event was quite successful. The club’s bank balance is well into the black.

OLD BUSINESS;

Kelvin reported that nine members attended the museum open house, six of whom brought models to display.

The Big Bird event was declared a success. Two days of perfect weather and a good attendance by participants and spectators helped to achieve this. Spectacular fly-bys by the Museums P-51 on Saturday and a SNJ on Sunday also contributed much to that success.

John Vanderhage and others took some fine photos of the event which can be seen on the club’s website and also on the rcuniverse.com website.

NEW BUSINESS;

Contest Director Gerry Becker presented the plan for the Fun Scale fly-in to be held July 7 th. There will be a $10 landing fee for the one day event. Set up will begin at 8:30 AM with registration at 9 AM and flying at 9:30 . The judging will be done solely by the pilots. The pilot’s ballot will be taken at 2:30 and results announced at 3PM. There is to be an open concession stand ably attended to by Gail and Megan. People will be needed to set up tents and fences early on Saturday. A noon time show by John Vanderhage and Ken Huber is in the plan for the festivities.

Charlie Pilchard proposed a new schedule for combat. He asked for approval of Friday times for combat, provided that no Saturday event is planned for the following day. Jerry Mc Lean asked for two Saturdays in September to hold pylon races in order to allow for more participation in the activity. Both proposals were discussed at length and approved by the members present.

SHOW AND TELL;

Renny Stefani showed his scratch built twin engine version of a Tiger Two. Two K&B 45s power the model.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:05 .

Minutes recorded and presented for approval by Jim Bradshaw. (dog proof box)
