The meeting was called to order at 6pm by the president Jerry McLean ;

TREASURER’S REPORT: There was no treasurer’s report as the treasurer was absent. The missing money from the Big Bird raffle has been found and deposited.

MINUTES of JUNE MEETING: The minutes of the June meeting were read and approved as read.

COMBAT: Charles Pilchard reported on combat and thanked all for their participation.

PYLON RACING: Jerry McLean reported on the pylon racing and thanked all the participants and those who came to help with judging and assisting the racers.

FIELD REPORT: Russ Haines reported that the field was in good shape.

SAFETY REPORT: Safety Officer Becker passed out flyers about safe ground handling. He reported on an accident at another club where a plane had landed and the pilot turned off his transmitter before shutting down the engine. The engine went to full speed and ran into the pilot causing him severe injuries.

NEW and OLD BUSINESS: Jerry reported that there was poor club member attendance at the last museum open house. The question was raised whether or not that we should continue this activity. Since there will be a meeting before the next museum open house the club will have a sign up sheet prior to the event.

Jerry stated that we should have more fund raising events. One suggestion was the July 4 th event at Blaine . This subject was tabled until the next meeting.

Gerry Becker gave a report on the Fun Scale Event. There were 13 pilots and 15 models. Although the weather delayed flying until the afternoon the event went well. Gerry presented awards for the event. There was discussion on how to improve next year’s event.

Gerry proposed that the club should buy some new utility tables for events. The proposal was voted on by the members and approved. He also said that we need more traffic cones to block off parking on the north end of the runway.

Gerry proposed a new event for next year possibly named “War Birds over Whatcom” modeled after event that other clubs have put on. This could be a two day event open to other clubs. Members were asked to give the matter some thought for further discussion at the next meeting.

Rennie Stefani presented solo certificates to new pilots Martin Cassel, Dirk Nansen and Rick O’Connor. He also will be taking orders for fuel. The club will purchase enough in addition to make a 64 gallon order so we can get the more favorable prices.

It was announced that the new design “T” shirts are here and for sale at $10 each.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 . Minutes recorded by James Bradshaw.
