Bell Air August 18 th, 2008 Meeting

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by the President. There were 23 members and guests present.

The Treasurer was unable to present her report due to a computer crash.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

Old Business:

Kelvin pronounced the Saturday August 2 War Bird and the Sunday All Bird events successful. There were 27 registered pilots and 52 planes at the War Bird event, and 27 pilots and 44 planes the next day for the All Bird. The Best of Show award was given to Don Belisle for his impressive 118 inch span Fokker D-7. Don also received the Best WW 1 prize for the same model. The Best WW2 trophy went to Scott McAbbee for his 102 inch wingspan P-38.

Best Post War Model was Patrick Belisle’s 60 inch span electric powered T-28. There were no major accidents or injuries either Saturday or Sunday. The two vendors Hobby Town USA and Winged Stitched Embroidery were well visited also.

Parking at the events was discussed. It was agreed that a better plan is needed. Gerry Becker offered to make some new” NO PARKING” signs to put in certain areas for next year. It was agreed that someone to direct parking is needed.

Jerry McLean stated that the generator needs some attention. It is hard to start initially after some time in storage.

The President reminded the members that October is nominations for new officer time. He urged members to be considering candidates or running for all four offices.

New Business:

Rennie Stefani presented new pilot Kevin Murphy with his solo certificate. A new member Sam Farrar signed up at the meeting.

Jim Bradshaw agreed to head up the August 30 th All Bird and potluck. Dick Clark and Joe Merithew have volunteered to be the salmon chefs. The salmon with be supplied by Garret Reynolds of Hannegen Sea Foods and there will be hot dogs plus all the potluck goodies.

Gail Buck will obtain the food for the next meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:55

Next meeting: Sept. 15 at the field.
