Bell Air RC Flyers September 19, 2005 meeting minutes

 

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 Pm by the president at the club’s flying field.

There was one guest present. President Jerry McLean thanked the members for their support of the club events for the year. The minutes of the August meeting were read by the secretary Jim Bradshaw. Treasurer Gail Buck gave the financial report, reporting that the club is still in the black, and that there were more $5 tickets remaining to be sold for the $250 raffle. Webmaster Kelvin Buck asked members to check the web site and make any necessary changes to their personal information.

Event reports and other old business:

Scott Wolf reported on the Aug 28 th fun fly. Despite a threat of bad weather, the event went well as conditions improved greatly as the day progressed.

Charlie P. reported on the combat season. He also proposed a winter combat/ racing event with slower model designs. There was some discussion, but no decisions made on the proposal.

Jerry McLean reported on the pylon season and thanked the many volunteers who helped with assisting and judging.

Russ Haines reported on the field. The barriers have been removed for the winter.

Gerry Becker has located a PA system to use at events at Radio Shack. The cost of the unit is about a hundred dollars.

Rennie Stefani announced that the fuel order was in, and members who ordered fuel could pick it up. He also presented long time member Gene Tapparo with his solo certificate.

Safety Officer Becker reported that a propeller had come off a model during a start, but had not hit anyone. He also read an amusing paper on how to tell if you are a bad pilot.

New Business:

Jerry announced that the next meeting will be at the Heritage Flight Museum , 7:00 PM , October 17 th.The museum has given the club permission to store our chairs and tables for our use at their facility for the winter. Jerry asked for a motion to donate $150 to the museum. It was moved and seconded and approved by the members present.

There was discussion on allowing non members to participate in pylon and combat for a fee.

No decision was reached at this time.

The 50/50 raffle will continue until December or until all the tickets have been sold.

Jerry has placed an updated list of paid members in the frequency board area.

The December 5th date for the annual Christmas and awards party has been confirmed. It will be at the Whatcom Educational Credit Union building on Holly Street , located across the street from the main building.

Jerry announced that the next meeting is the time for nominations for officers for 2006. Members were asked to be thinking of possible candidates for office. Also nominations for the worst crash trophy should be considered.

Pat Eastman asked for a work party on Saturday to clear grass and debris from the culverts and ditches on Hillaire Road . Volunteers should meet Pat at 10 am at the field.

Jay Schoening proposed that he build a lighted signal board for pylon racing. Members approved the cost of approximately $100.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 pm .
