Bell Air R/C Flyers September 2007 Meeting Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 at the field by President Kelvin Buck. Kelvin welcomed the 30 members and guests present. He thanked all who attended for their parts in making the 2007 events successful. He also announced that the next meeting will be at the heritage flight museum October 15 th at 7 PM . Kelvin gave the current financial report in the absence of Treasurer Gail Buck. He reported a healthy bank balance, partly due to the auction of George Ewell’s donated items which brought in over $800. The minutes of the August meeting were read and approved.
Old Business: Kelvin announced that the excellent photos taken at the 2007 events are available on the club’s website. Safety Officer Gerry Becker reported that 2007 had been a relatively safe year injury- wise. Only a few injuries caused by propellers were reported. He cautioned pilots on the need to safety check their planes before each flying session. Checking prop retaining nuts and range checks were stressed as essential as well as the general condition of the model. The flight instructors presented several students with solo certificates. Pall Grondal, Mike Peetoom, and Lloyd Marusiak soloed this month. Rory Cahill and Paul Baker have joined the club and are new students.
New Business: Kelvin reminded the group that nomination for 2008 officers takes place in October. He asked members to be thinking about candidates or seeking an office themselves in the coming month. Voting for the new officers will be done during the November meeting. Pat Eastman reminded us that a Fall work party to prepare the field for the coming winter is needed. Saturday, Sept. 29 th at 10 AM , was set as the date for the work party with an alternate date of October 6 th in case of bad weather. Gene Tapparro Made a motion that the club should buy more hats for next year. The motion was approved by the members present. Pat Eastman announced that there will be the first ever BIMM exhibit of radio control boats, cars ,planes and swap meet on October 12th, 13th, 14th at the Maritime Heritage Center, 800 Cornwall Ave in Bellingham.
